Why Would You Seek Travel for Freedom?

An escape from routine. Travel offers an escape from the repetitive routines of everyday life. Exploring unfamiliar places can free you from the mundane activities and duties that can make life feel oppressive.

Craving new experiences. Travelling presents openings for new and thrilling experiences. Trying different cuisines, participating in adventurous activities, and immersing oneself in diverse cultures can provide a sense of innovation and liberty.

Getting out of your comfort zone. Leaving your comfort zone by travelling to unfamiliar places can be encouraging. Facing unknown challenges and adapting to different environments can increase self-confidence and create a feeling of liberation.

Seeking self-discovery. Expose yourself to new circumstances and viewpoints, leading to a deeper understanding of yourself, personal values, and goals, fostering a sense of freedom to be your genuine self.

Independence and autonomy. Travel allows you to make independent decisions, from selecting destinations to planning itineraries. The ability to steer through unfamiliar territory and handle challenges can instill a sense of self-reliance and autonomy.

Minimalism and simplicity. Travel often fosters a simpler lifestyle with a tendency to pack fewer belongings and focus on essentials. This move to minimalism can create a sense of freedom from material possessions and excess physical and mental baggage. Don’t let your possessions possess you.

Freedom of expression. In new environments, you might feel more liberated to articulate yourself without the judgments or expectancies of your usual social circles, emboldening you to explore different facets of your personality.

Flexible lifestyle. Altering plans on an impulse, and shifting itineraries based on desires and interests is a level of flexibility that juxtaposes with the structured schedules of daily life.

Adventure and spontaneity. Travel often brings surprise encounters and opportunities. The sense of adventure and spontaneity navigating these situations can create a feeling of living life to the fullest.

Time for reflection. The downtime during travel, such as waiting at airports or taking long train rides, offers moments of contemplation and introspection. Time away from the usual interruptions can lead to a clearness of thought and a sense of mental freedom.

This striking island in the Aegean Sea claims the best sunsets in the world, where the deep waters swallow the sun in a never-ending story of dramatic scenes. Drink in the sunset along with a glass of wine and dinner on a cliffside terrace while nibbling on Mediterranean specialties such as dolmades, tzatziki, and hummus. White-washed buildings with blue rooves resembling clouds on cliffs present a mirage designed to confuse pirates of yesteryear. It’s an ideal destination if you seek freedom through leisure, discovery, and cultural immersion.

Formerly a feudal possession of the British Crown, this self-governing island is an autonomous remnant of an olden world. Sark is off the coast of Normandy, France. It is part of the Bailiwick of Guernsey and is the smallest independent state in the British Commonwealth. Sark has its own set of laws and parliament. With a population of about 600 individuals, it can be considered an independent European island and is one of the smallest autonomous zones in the world.

Sark has no income tax, no capital gains tax, no inheritance tax, and no VAT. The island can appeal to entrepreneurs who want a less bureaucratic and costly country from which to operate their businesses.

An intentional community, the first Monteliberan settler arrived in the summer of 2020. In mid-2021, more people began moving in. In 2022, the project saw a hefty influx of new residents.

As of early 2024, between 200-250 members of the Montelibero community live full-time in Montenegro. People frequently visit for temporary stays to decide whether to move permanently in the future. MTL City is being built around Bar, and the newcomers have increased the demand for real estate, causing the locals’ properties to appreciate. (“Montelibero – Free Communities Directory”)

The first building in MTL City has been completed and offered for long-term renting in the summer of 2023. (“Montelibero – Free Communities Directory”) Three families live in MTL City full-time. The MTL City site currently includes one hectare of land, with plans to expand in future phases.

Relations are being fostered with local Montenegrins, including cross-employment.
